“A creative life is an amplified life. It's a bigger life, a happier life, an expanded life, and a hell of a lot more interesting life." - Elizabeth Gilbert

Travel the world

Hair styling will allow for travel on the job and will also allow you to make side money if you are already on vacation. Beauty schools that offer styling classes for special events are a great way to travel while pursuing your career. Weddings, proms, fashion shows and working on the set of television/movies are just a few ways that you may incorporate travel into a career with hair styling.

Work with Other Creative-types

Not only will you meet some of your best creative friends at beauty school but you can also work with creative people in the future. You may end up working with make up artists, models, actors, estheticians, personal stylists and other hair dressers, all of which have a creative side.

Live Your Passion & authentic self

If you are thinking about going to beauty school, you probably are already passionate about hair styling, make up and fashion trends. This will give you the dream to live your passion and experiment with your own styles and fashion. As you work with creative folks within the industry, you will probably make connections with other stylists who can help you look and feel your best.

Form lifelong Connections & Friends

Through hair styling courses, networking events and through clients you will likely meet lifelong connections and friendships through becoming a hairstylist and going to hair beauty school. This alone is of great appeal to those who tend to be extroverted as it is a natural and easy way to talk to people. It's no secret that you must be great with conversation and communication to be a hair stylist which is why some hair stylists choose to take business and communication courses in the future. Regardless, you'll never be lonely when you become a hair stylist and will constantly be meeting new folks.

Make Good Money

It will take a lot of hard work, hair stylist courses and networking overtime but you can absolutely make good money as a hair stylist. Those who live in bigger cities tend to make more money than rural America and if you are willing to travel or work on weekends you can make more. Many people who work during the week would prefer to get their hair done on the weekends or after 5PM since they have more free time then allowing you to have a leg up on those who choose not to have extended hours.

Make Your Own Schedule

One of the major benefits of becoming a hairstylist is the flexibility of being able to create your own schedule. You can pick and choose when you see clients whether it is on the weekdays, weeknights and/or weekends. This is also beneficial if you choose to have clients in the home or when traveling to remote locations for work.

Continuing Education & teaching

Becoming a hairstylist allows for continuing education in that you constantly need to be learning to stay up to date on trends and the newest technologies. There are several ways to do this whether through specific hair stylist courses, workshops, online events and/or pursuing outside of hair styling. Many hair stylists go on to expand their knowlege about other cosmetology routes such as esthetics, nails, make-up and fashion. Lastly, many seasoned hair stylists go on to teaching hair courses themselves offering another career option within the industry.

Make Someone's Day or special occasion

Last but not least, this is probably the most common reason for going to hair school: you have the ability to make someone's day and increase their confidence as a whole. A new haircut, color and/or style can completely transform the way a person looks and feels about themselves. There is nothing that can compare to making a client, friend or family member feel beautiful and confident and seeing them walk away with a smile.

You'll also have the opportunity to help someone's special occasion come to life with the perfect hairstyle. Weddings, proms, photo sessions, religious ceremonies and a date night are all opportunities for special updos, hairstyles or just a color and cut refresh.
